New & Innovative Ways To Cure Vaginal Dryness

Ways-To-Cure-Vaginal-Dryness

Sex is a major aspect of a healthy and happy life; but with vaginal dryness, having intimacy can be extremely difficult. For a healthy sexual relationship, men and women must exhibit good sexual health.
Though both genders can experience their fair share of sexual problems, at the moment, we’re going to focus in on vaginal dryness in particular.

Causes and Symptoms

Vaginal dryness can happen to a woman anytime. However, the probabilities are higher during menopause - a period when estrogen levels dip. Estrogen has multiple functions - one of them is keeping the vaginal lining healthy and moist.

Breastfeeding or oral contraceptives could also cause the dryness. Pelvic radiation, douching, prolonged tampon usage, advanced endometriosis, etc. contribute to or instigate the problem as well. If you feel irritation, burning or itching sensations, or soreness down there, you probably have vaginal dryness.

Treatments

The pharmaceutical industry isn't as proactive with its treatments for vaginal dryness, compared to its eagerness to prevent or cure similar health issues experienced by men. However, things are changing, and the people in charge are taking notice. The following are the popular and more relevant treatment options:

i) Vaginal Moisturizers: The moisturizer offers soothing comfort, and delivers moisture for almost three days with one application; thereby ensuring stable vaginal health. Similar to how skin moisturizers work, this moisturizer appends itself to the vaginal epithelial cells, thereby repairing, healing, and restoring the routine moisture cycle.

ii) Water-Based Lubricants: These help moisturize the vaginal lining. The product's effectiveness may last for several hours at a stretch; making it an ideal thing to use when dryness poses issues during sexual intercourse.

iii) SERMs: Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) are pills that are usually taken orally and not vaginally. These help reduce the dryness and associated pain significantly. The results are often noticeable post a month of treatment. Some of the drugs that fall into the SERM category are Tamoxifen and Evista. The drug Osphena is a relatively new entrant.

As always, speak to your physician before resorting to any of the above mentioned techniques.
